The moegolf version of a Top 50 list is my 50 favorite courses I have been privileged to play.  There are many great courses missing from this list…ones from other Best Golf Course lists that still need to be gotten to.  As they say, so many courses….so little time….but I am still working on it.

Keep in mind these are my 50 Favorite golf experiences not necessarily the best courses I have played.  The ranking is based on the full golf enjoyment of the day not whether it is the biggest challenge.

For me what influences my impression is the architectural intent and it’s execution, originality in design features, the balance of the golf challenge,  respect for the historical significance of the place, the visual presentation and adherence to the natural character of the region, and possibly the quality of the dog at the turn.

As you look at this list the Top 10 are “must plays”-if you get the call drop everything and go.  The Next 10 are “should plays”-so if you are in the area make it a priority to get there.  The Last 30 are “highly recommended”-you will not be disappointed so it is likely worth the effort.

There were another 80 courses that were considered and many are worth the time to seek out, I just had to draw a line somewhere.  My apologies to Pine Barrens, George Wright, Bay Hill, Grayhawk, Hidden Creek, Kinloch, Pine Needles, Saucon Valley, Torrey Pines, Baltry-County Louth, Crail, Pelican Hill, Sara Bay, County Sligo, Laurel Valley, among others.

I hope this list helps you tick off a few that you have not gotten to yet.  For the truly devout golfer,  this is life’s work!
